Restoration companies in Colorado

Which restoration companies in Colorado can we vouch for on evidence?

Yes. 58 Colorado companies met our listing bar. The Aurora, Denver and Fort Collins areas have their own pages, and the 22 companies elsewhere in the state are listed below, 16 of them ranked. The ranked ones pair a well-documented website with a clear result, found or not found, in the Colorado Secretary of State's business entity data. Colorado has no state contractor or mold license to look up, so the license question for your job goes to your city or county.

241 companies reviewed in Colorado, 58 met the listing bar (22 of them outside the city pages), 16 of those scored here (evidence coverage of 70% or more). Ranked by Evidence Score.

How we check companies in Colorado

Strong on services, light on specifics

The Aurora, Denver and Fort Collins pages carry their own lists. What's below covers the 22 companies elsewhere in Colorado, and their service menus run long. Water damage appears on 21 of 22 sites and mold remediation on 20 of 22. Fire and smoke follows at 19 of 22, and 19 of 22 promise round-the-clock response. Sewage cleanup is less common, on 13 of 22 sites, storm work is on 14 of 22, and free estimates show up on 13 of 22.

Insurance claim help is stated by 77% of them, and 82% name an industry standard such as IICRC S500. That second item tells you what a company says it follows and nothing more, since it's self-reported.

Where the pages stop

The thin part comes after the call is booked. Only 7 of 22 say how quickly a crew arrives. Just 3 of 22 describe a warranty on the work. That's why the ranked companies post a median score of 54 against a median coverage of 78%: we could check nearly all of each site, and the points for speed and guarantees weren't there to award.

What the registry search added

A website can only answer so many of the questions we check. The rest need an outside record, and in Colorado that record is the Secretary of State's business entity data, published as open data. When we can tie a company's name to a registered entity, we confirm it exists and read its formation date. A clean miss is logged too and still counts as checked. A little under half the listed companies were found.

That's what put 16 companies on the ranking. The others are listed without a rank, and most sit a point under the 70% line because their name didn't lead to one clear record either way. It can happen when a location trades under a brand name that differs from its registered entity. An owner in that spot can send the entity name through corrections with a link to the record.

How to check a restoration company in Colorado

Colorado leaves most of this to local government. When we checked in September 2026, the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) said plainly that not all occupations are licensed, naming roofers and general contractors, and told homeowners to check with their city because county laws may add protections. Ask the building department where the property sits whether it licenses contractors, then ask the company for that local license number.

Mold follows the same pattern. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment states that it does not regulate mold, and points renters to landlord-tenant law for mold in rented homes. We found no state mold license to look up.

What you can check is the company's registration and standing on the Secretary of State's Business Database Search. For homes built before 1978, the EPA runs the lead renovation certification program in Colorado, since the state isn't among those the EPA has authorized to run their own. The IICRC will confirm whether a company is a Certified Firm. We haven't logged IICRC or EPA Lead-Safe checks for any Colorado company yet, so both show as Not verified on every profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Colorado license restoration or mold remediation companies?

Not at the state level, as far as we could find in September 2026. The Department of Regulatory Agencies says general contractors and roofers aren't licensed by the state, and the health department says it does not regulate mold. Cities and counties can set their own rules, so check with the building department where the property sits.

Why are some Colorado companies listed but not ranked?

They reached the coverage a website alone can provide but not the 70% a ranking needs. The missing piece is usually a registry search that gave no clear result. A company owner can point us to the registered entity name through the corrections page.

Are franchise locations ranked differently?

No. A franchise location is listed and scored on the same weights as an independent company. Its own profile page is kept out of search results, but it still appears in this list and in the tables.

Which outside records can I check for a Colorado company myself?

Its registration and standing on the Secretary of State's Business Database Search, and for older homes, whether it holds EPA lead renovation certification. The EPA runs that program in Colorado. You can also ask the IICRC whether it is a Certified Firm.
