Restoration companies in Idaho

Which restoration companies in Idaho can we vouch for on evidence?
Yes. Idaho has a ranked list, and 19 of the 27 companies we list made it. What carried them over the 70% coverage bar was a search of the Idaho Secretary of State's SOSBiz business records, which either found the company's entity or recorded a clear miss. Idaho registers contractors instead of licensing them by trade. We haven't automated that lookup, so check the registration number yourself.
108 companies reviewed in Idaho, 27 met the listing bar, 19 of those scored here (evidence coverage of 70% or more). Ranked by Evidence Score.

Top 19 Restoration Companies in Idaho (2026)
Key Takeaways
- Mold remediation is documented by 26 of 27 listed Idaho companies, one more than water damage at 25 of 27.
- Only 3 of 27 say how fast a crew arrives, and 5 of 27 describe a warranty.
- Secretary of State records are what lift an Idaho company past the 70% bar. A website on its own stops short of it.
- Most Idaho construction jobs over $2,000 need a contractor registered with the Idaho Contractors Board. Search the number before you sign.

Each company on this page met our listing bar first: a restoration service named on its own website, a working way to reach it, a location we could read and a second source that agrees. After that, every company is scored on the same fixed weights. An item we couldn't check earns nothing, and the coverage figure next to the score shows how much of it we could check. Star ratings and review counts aren't part of it.

What the evidence shows
A list that leans toward mold
Idaho is one of the few states where mold edges out water. Mold remediation appears on 26 of 27 listed sites and water damage on 25 of 27, so a couple of companies here don't advertise water work at all. Check before you call about a flooded basement. Fire and smoke work shows up on 20 of 27, sewage cleanup on 15 of 27 and storm damage on 17 of 27. Two listings are franchise locations.
Round-the-clock service and insurance claim help are each stated by 81% of sites. Free estimates appear on 18 of 27.
What the sites leave out
Only 3 of 27 say how quickly a crew arrives, and 5 of 27 describe any warranty on the work. 19 of 27 name an industry standard such as IICRC S500 for water or S520 for mold, which is the company's own claim and scored that way. Only 1 of 27 shows a third-party credential we confirmed ourselves.
That's why the ranked companies score a median of 54 while their median coverage is 78%. Coverage is how much we could check. The score is what we found, and most Idaho sites leave out the response time and the guarantee.
What the Secretary of State search added
The Idaho Secretary of State runs SOSBiz, a public business search that shows an entity's status and, on its detail page, the initial filing date. We search it for each listed company's exact name in the same city. Most were found. A few gave a clear miss, which still counts as checked, and several couldn't be tied to one record either way. A website can bring a company close to the 70% line but never over it, so that search is what separates the 19 ranked companies from the rest.
Years operating come from the same record, with one limit. We treat the filing date as a founding date only when the entity was formed in Idaho. A company incorporated elsewhere and registered here as a foreign entity has its registration confirmed, but its Idaho filing date isn't used as its age.
How to check a restoration company in Idaho
Idaho handles contractors through registration with the Idaho Contractors Board, part of DOPL. When we checked in September 2026, the Board's FAQ said registration applies to anyone doing a construction job worth more than $2,000 in materials and labor, with some exemptions. Applicants must show workers' compensation cover, or explain why it isn't required, plus general liability insurance of at least $300,000.
Search that number through DOPL's Public Search before work starts. On residential jobs over $2,000, the FAQ also says the general contractor must give you a disclosure statement before signing, covering your right to lien waivers, proof of insurance and the option of a surety bond.
Mold is less formal. The Department of Health and Welfare says no Idaho state law requires mold inspections or sets cleanup standards, and suggests considering a professional once the moldy area is larger than 10 square feet. For a house built before 1978, the EPA runs lead renovation certification in Idaho, so ask whether the crew is Lead-Safe certified. So far we've confirmed a contractor registration and an IICRC Certified Firm record for one Idaho company, and logged no EPA Lead-Safe checks. For the rest, look those up yourself; their profiles show them as Not verified.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Idaho license restoration or mold remediation companies?
Idaho registers contractors rather than licensing each trade. When we checked in September 2026, the Idaho Contractors Board's FAQ said anyone doing a construction job worth more than $2,000 in materials and labor must register unless exempt. We found no separate state mold license, and the Department of Health and Welfare says there are no federal or Idaho state laws that require mold inspections or set cleanup standards.
How do I look up an Idaho contractor's registration?
Use the Public Search in the online services of the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL), linked from the Contractors Board page. The Board says registered contractors must show their registration number on advertising, contracts and building permits, so it should be on the company's website or estimate. The same search shows formal actions against a registered contractor.
What happens if a contractor who should be registered isn't?
According to the Board's FAQ, the contractor can't get a building permit, gives up lien rights and can't sue to collect under the contract. Working without a required registration is also a misdemeanor.
Why do some listed Idaho companies have no rank?
Their coverage is under 70%. A website alone can't reach the bar, and for most of them the Secretary of State search didn't give a clear answer either way. An owner can send us the registered entity name through the corrections page.
