Restoration companies in Alabama

16 companies listed · Last updated:

Which restoration companies in Alabama can we vouch for on evidence?

Not yet. Alabama has an unranked table of 16 companies. All of them met our listing bar, but a rank needs 70% coverage, and their own websites carry them to 69% at most. The rest has to come from outside records, and we don't have an open-data business registry or license file wired in for Alabama yet. We won't lower the bar to fill a ranking, so the table compares what each company documents.

113 companies reviewed in Alabama, 16 met the listing bar, 0 of those scored here (evidence coverage of 70% or more).

Restoration Companies in Alabama Compared (2026)

Key Takeaways

  • Mold remediation shows up on 12 of 16 Alabama sites, one more than water damage at 11 of 16.
  • Only 2 of 16 say how fast a crew arrives, and 1 of 16 describes a warranty on the work.
  • No listed Alabama company shows a third-party credential we could confirm, and none is a franchise location.
  • Residential repair or remodeling over $10,000, and roofing over $2,500, needs a Home Builders Licensure Board license. The Board's Licensee Search checks it.

Each Alabama company here passed the same listing test: a restoration service named on its own site, a way to reach it that works, a location we could read and a second source that agrees. Then it was scored on fixed weights, with coverage printed next to the score. Coverage is the share of the score we were able to check. Here it stops just under the ranking line for everyone, so sort by the service you need and read the one-line reasons.

What the evidence shows

Mold comes first here

Most state lists lead with water damage. Alabama's doesn't. 12 of 16 listed companies document mold remediation, while water damage appears on 11 of 16, which means a few of these sites never mention water work at all. If your problem is a burst pipe, confirm that before you call.

Sewage and biohazard cleanup is documented by 9 of 16, and fire and smoke by exactly half. Storm work is the thinnest line, at 6 of 16. If a storm took part of your roof, check that column first.

Around the clock service is stated on 11 of 16 sites, and insurance claim help on the same number. Half say they give free estimates.

Gaps on the page

Ask an Alabama company how fast it can get a crew to you, and you'll probably have to ask, because only 2 of 16 put a response time on their site. A warranty is rarer still: 1 of 16 describes one.

Half of the sites name an industry standard such as IICRC S500 for water or S520 for mold. We count that as the company's own claim and score it that way. None of the 16 shows a credential we could confirm through a third party, and every row belongs to an independent company rather than a franchise location.

What stops a ranking

The median coverage for listed Alabama companies is 69%, which is also the ceiling for evidence taken from a website. Past that line, the points come from outside records: a business registry match, a formation date, a license file. Until one of those is wired in for Alabama, the page stays a comparison.

How to check a restoration company in Alabama

Start with the Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board. It licenses residential builders and remodelers, and when we checked in September 2026 its license was required for building, repairing or improving a home when the job costs more than $10,000, and for residential roofing work over $2,500. The Board tells homeowners to use its Licensee Search before hiring or signing above that amount, and to ask to see the license card.

Put the job in writing. The Attorney General's storm repair guidance says state law requires licensed home builders to use a written contract. It lists what that contract should hold: the contractor's full name, address and phone number, a description of the work, start and estimated completion dates, and the total cost.

Mold sits outside that system. The Department of Public Health says Alabama has no laws on building mold standards or testing, and doesn't accredit or certify mold contractors.

Older houses add one more check. Alabama runs its own lead program through the Department of Public Health, and its Lead Renovation Contractor Certification covers firms doing renovation work in pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities. Tearing out wet drywall or smoke-damaged trim can disturb old paint, so ask whether the crew holds it.

The Secretary of State's Business Entity Search confirms whether a company is a registered entity. We haven't logged license, lead-safe or IICRC checks for any Alabama company, and profiles show those as Not verified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Alabama license mold remediation companies?

No. When we checked in September 2026, the Alabama Department of Public Health said the state has no laws on building mold standards or testing, and no accreditation or certification for contractors who test for or remediate mold.

When does an Alabama contractor need a home builder license?

The Home Builders Licensure Board licenses residential builders and remodelers. Its license is required to build, repair or improve a home when the job costs more than $10,000, and for residential roofing jobs over $2,500. A big water or fire rebuild can pass that first figure, so ask before work starts.

How do I look up an Alabama builder's license?

Run the name through the Board's online Licensee Search before you hire or sign anything over $10,000, and ask to see the builder's license card. We haven't logged Alabama license lookups for any listed company, so each profile shows that item as Not verified.

Why is no Alabama company ranked?

A ranked list needs 8 companies at 70% coverage. Websites get Alabama companies to 69%, and the last points depend on records such as a registry match or a license file that we can't yet query for Alabama. An owner can send the registered entity name through the corrections page.
