About Restoration Index

Restoration Index is an independent editorial publication ranking water damage, mold remediation, fire and smoke, and indoor air quality companies across the United States. Every firm in the index receives a single MetaScore (0–100) synthesized from publicly available data on BBB, Google, IICRC, EPA, Yelp, Angi, HomeAdvisor, and regional industry sources. Why we built this

Homeowners and property managers searching for a restoration company face a confusing mess of look-alike marketing sites, each claiming to be the best. Insurance adjusters, real estate agents, and property managers spend hours per claim trying to assemble a short list of qualified contractors from disparate public sources. The information exists; it is simply scattered across a dozen databases and trade certifications that never come together in one view.

Restoration Index does the synthesis. We pull from the same public sources a careful buyer would consult on their own (BBB, Google, IICRC, EPA, etc.), normalize each into a comparable sub-score, and weight them transparently. The result is the kind of answer a homeowner is actually looking for: which firms in my city have a track record that holds up under public scrutiny, and which do not.

What we are not

We are not a lead-generation business. We do not publish phone numbers or accept contact-form submissions on behalf of ranked firms. We do not sell ranked positions and firms cannot pay for a higher MetaScore. If a firm in your city looks promising, contact them directly through their own channels.

Editorial governance

All ranking data is sourced and re-pulled on a published cadence (see Methodology). Editorial commentary on the blog is written and reviewed by a team that includes restoration industry contributors. Ranked firms can request a correction at any time via the contact page.

Publisher

Restoration Index is owned and operated by Pleiades Consultancy, an AI-search optimization firm. Pleiades works with restoration companies as clients in addition to publishing this index. To keep editorial and commercial separate, the MetaScore formula applies identically to Pleiades clients and non-clients, and Pleiades clients receive no ranking lift from the consulting relationship. Companies that wish to improve their MetaScore can review the methodology and the per-firm breakdown to see exactly which inputs are pulling their score up or down.
