Reading the site

Restoration Index is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising scripts and doesn't ask you to sign in. The network that serves the pages keeps standard request logs, such as the address a request came from and the page asked for, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't use those logs to profile readers.

Links to a company's website or Google profile take you to that site, and its own privacy terms apply there.

Information about companies

The index holds information about businesses, taken from public sources: the text of the company's own website, which we quote with the page address and the date we read it, and public records such as a state business registration. Where a website names an owner or a contact, that name can appear on the company's page as the named contact, because the company published it for customers. Email addresses inside quotes are replaced with "[email]".

We don't buy data about companies or people, and we don't store or show star ratings or review counts from review sites.

Corrections and removal requests

A company or a named person can ask us to correct or remove information through the corrections page. We keep a record of each request and what we did about it.

Changes

If the site ever adds analytics or a form that collects personal information, this page will say what is collected and why before it goes live.
