How this list is built: Methodology · Disclosures · About · Report a correction
Minneapolis, St. Paul and the Minnesota suburbs share one page here. Every company listed has an office in that area and passed the listing bar. The table is alphabetical, and each company's Evidence Score sits beside its coverage, the part of the score we could actually check. For this group the median coverage is 69%.

What the evidence shows
Water first, mold a coin flip
Every company on the Minneapolis list handles water damage. After that the menu splits. Fire and smoke appears on 7 of 10 sites and storm work on 6 of 10, while mold reaches only 5 of 10 and sewage cleanup 3 of 10. If you found black spots behind a basement wall, look at the services column before you call, because half the list doesn't advertise mold work at all.
Estimates stated, timing mostly not
Free estimates are common here: 6 of 10 say so up front. Round-the-clock service is stated by 8 of 10, and 5 of 10 name an industry standard such as IICRC S500, self-reported and scored as that.
What the sites skip is the part after you hang up. 3 of 10 say how fast a crew shows up, and 2 of 10 describe a warranty. None of the listings is a franchise location.
Checking a company in Minneapolis
The Department of Labor and Industry licenses residential building contractors and remodelers, and a company that contracts with the owner of a one to four unit home for work in more than one special skill needs that license. Search it in DLI's lookup, which also shows enforcement actions.
Storm and water jobs often run through insurance, and Minnesota has a rule for that. State law bars a contractor from offering to pay your deductible or giving you anything of value to sign, and the contractor has to put a written notice about the law in its first estimate. If an offer to cover the deductible comes up, that's a reason to keep looking. See the Minnesota page for more.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a Minnesota license for mold remediation?
No. The Minnesota Department of Health says neither the state nor any federal agency licenses or certifies mold investigators or remediators. That makes the company's own description of its process, and the standard it names, worth reading closely.
What if my insurer denies the claim after I've signed?
The Attorney General's office says Minnesota law lets you cancel a repair contract that depends on an insurance claim within 72 hours of the insurer telling you the claim was denied. The contractor then has 10 days to return your payments, less reasonable pay for any emergency services.
